Previo a este suceso, el 25 de junio, Alexis Armando N. había sido detenido junto a su pareja en Santa María Catepec por alterar el orden público. El 9 de julio, seis atacantes llegaron al casino en un coche guinda, abrieron fuego, y en medio del tiroteo, Alexis y otra persona fueron asesinados. La Fiscalía ha incautado un arma de fuego, 30 elementos balísticos y ha revisado 77 cámaras de vigilancia.
